Our Parish

This section of our website is dedicated to the Parish as a whole.  Simply click the links on the left hand side to browse.

Introduction to the Parish

The Parish of Cilybebyll is situated in the Swansea Valley, South Wales.  It has within its boundaries the villages of Rhos, Alltwen, Gellinudd and Cilybebyll.  The churches in the Parish are located geographically at each end of the Parish, one in Alltwen and one in Cilybebyll.  Alltwen serves the village of Alltwen, and Gellinudd, whilst Cilybebyll serves Rhos, Cilybebyll and Gellinudd.

It has two churches - St.John the Evangelist (the Parish Church) and St.John the Baptist (normally referred to as St.John's Church, Alltwen).  The Parish Church is set in the countryside in the tiny village of Cilybebyll and is one of the oldest churches in Wales with a 12th century tower and a set of bells containing the second oldest bell in Wales.

St.Johns Alltwen is located near the centre of the village and is over 100 years old and houses a pipe organ of the same age.
