How We Worship
Together yet different.
Worshipping God is at the heart of our Christian lives. In the
Parish, however, we recognize that different people find it
helpful to worship in different ways, and this isn’t a problem.
Some of us like opera, others prefer rock music. That being so,
it’s unrealistic to think that there can be one, single,
experience of worship that we will all cherish.
Because we’re not all the same, we want to celebrate these
differences in our worship. It’s for this reason that, as a
Parish, we offer a diverse pattern of services, with each one
pleasing to God and acceptable to Him whatever its style. In all
of these we aim to take the Bible seriously and to ensure that
Jesus is at the centre of all we do.
Sunday mornings at the Parish Church.
There’s something special about worshipping in a fairly quiet
country setting in a Church with a Norman tower and Church bells
regularly used.
At St. John’s Parish Church in the village of Cilybebyll our
Eucharists are easy to follow, and sometimes feature a choir. Most
Sundays we meet at 10.45 (at 9.15 on the first Sunday of the
month). We’d love to see you there – you’ll receive a very warm
welcome.
Sunday mornings at St. John’s, Alltwen.
It’s great to be able to worship together as a family. It’s so
much easier to worship God when we don’t have to spend every
second praying that the baby doesn’t cry or the toddler doesn’t
toddle. Babies and toddlers are part of the family of the Church
too!
We celebrate Eucharists with families in mind at St. John the
Baptist, the Triangle, Alltwen on Sunday mornings usually at 9.15
(10.45 on the first Sunday of the month). There’s Sunday School
for our pre-teens, and the whole thing is easy to follow. We’d
love to see you – all!
Informal worship – no experience needed!
Worship doesn’t have to be formal and follow a set pattern.
There’s something good about not knowing what will happen next,
and not having to juggle between various service books.
If you prefer informal worship and find it easier to sense the
Holy Spirit when you’re not trying to find the next page, why not
join us? We meet for worship and teaching on Sundays at 6.30 (at
St John The Baptist, Triangle, Alltwen), and on many Wednesday
evenings at 7. You’d be most welcome.
Cell groups.
We have a number of monthly cell groups (including teenagers)
which meet for worship, study and discussion at
various times and locations throughout the Parish (do contact us
for details).
If you want to make friends and grow in your Christian life,
there’s certainly a cell group that would be convenient for you.
Do join us.
The
Book of Common Prayer.
The Prayer Book experience of worship helps us to come before God
as generations have over the years, and will in the future. When
we don’t have to worry about the words, because we know them well,
we can focus on God as the Holy Spirit opens our hearts and
ministers to us in the Name of Jesus.
It’s for this reason that Prayer Book worship remains important to
the Church here in the Parish, as we use language which is drawn
heavily from the Bible.
Why not celebrate the Eucharist with us, using the Prayer Book, on
a Wednesday morning at 10.30?
(We
alternate between the Parish Church of St .John the Evangelist,
Cilybebyll, and the Church of St. John the Baptist at the Triangle
in Alltwen).
We’d love to see you.
