How We Worship

Together yet different.

Worshipping God is at the heart of our Christian lives. In the Parish, however, we recognize that different people find it helpful to worship in different ways, and this isn’t a problem. Some of us like opera, others prefer rock music. That being so, it’s unrealistic to think that there can be one, single, experience of worship that we will all cherish.

Because we’re not all the same, we want to celebrate these differences in our worship. It’s for this reason that, as a Parish, we offer a diverse pattern of services, with each one pleasing to God and acceptable to Him whatever its style. In all of these we aim to take the Bible seriously and to ensure that Jesus is at the centre of all we do.

Sunday mornings at the Parish Church.

Cilybebyll.

Do you feel connected with the tradition and ritual of the Anglican service?

If you do, you may feel at home with the modern language and modern approach to the traditional service in the rural setting of the Parish Church in the village of Cilybebyll.

The service is easy to follow and the Celtic churchyard, Norman tower  and Medieval font give you the feeling of permanence and continuity. You will be very welcome each Sunday at 10am

Sunday mornings at St. John’s, Alltwen.

We hold our family service and Sunday school, every Sunday at 10am.
If you are you looking for a friendly, more  relaxed less formal approach to worship in a modern family orientated setting, then do feel free to drop in, you'll always be welcome.

  The Book of Common Prayer.

For those of us who enjoy worshipping in the traditional Anglican way, the Services below are conducted

according to:

The Book of Common Prayer

for use in

The Church in Wales

Fortnightly on a Sunday we have  Evening Prayer (otherwise known as “Evensong”), usually sung.

Every Wednesday morning we     celebrate the Holy Eucharist.

Both of these services are ideal for  people who have grown up using the traditional words which they love and which have become part of their     spirituality.

A Time of Fellowship

Be ready for the coming week.

Join us for a time of fellowship, encouraging

one another, prayer and worship - and a cuppa!

No set order of service - each  could have

a different emphasis - but JESUS will always

be the centre,

"Those who wait upon the Lord shall renew

their strength, they shall rise up with

wings like eagles, they shall run and

Not be weary, they shall walk and, not faint. "

(Isaiah 40 v 31)

Learning together

We take the Bible and it’s teaching very       seriously as a Parish and therefore wish to meet to learn more about it so that we may grow in our Christian faith.

Once a month on Wednesday evenings (7pm)  we meet for church night where we sing songs, hear a talk, discuss questions in small groups, pray and then have coffee. It is all friendly and not pressurised in any way.

Once a month on Wednesday evenings (7pm) , we meet in small groups in homes around the    parish to further study the Bible and grow in our faith as we learn from each other and    enjoy each other’s company.
